Today JP is 5 weeks old! Next week, I won’t have to wait for weekly pictures, I’ll be able to meet this little guy in person!
A beautiful picture of Jens Peter and my boyfriend Kevin drawn by my 7.5 year-old cousin. Kevin is holding a knife and a bag of meat.
In three days JP will be home!
It’s exciting getting everything ready for him. In relation to the puppy list, we now have: ✓dog food, ✓treats, ✓a brush, and ✓a pen. I think it’s important that he’s not confined to his crate all day. So the pen should allow him room to move around without giving him the opportunity to eat our furniture.
We have also been watching Cesar Millan videos and yesterday I bought his book Be the Pack Leader. I’ve already started practicing being calm-assertive. Cesar is right about people: they rely on dogs to fulfill their emotional needs (someone who loves them, someone who listens), but they don’t fulfill the dog’s needs in return. Treating a dog like a human baby creates instability in a dog, because he isn’t human! I’ve learned a lot from Cesar and hope that I’ll be able to raise a balanced, happy dog!
Jens Peter was very well-behaved on our long car ride this past weekend. He snuggled up on his puppy-daddy’s feet and slept most of the time.
Also, registered JP with the AKC today!

Enjoying his bed. We are proud puppy parents - today his registration and pedigree came in the mail!
